Attaching a Shore Power Adapter the Right Way.

Certain boats require that you plug power cords into their inlets to power everything inside.

Some applications might need to use an adapter cord to get the power required. If you are running a generator or have a boat that does not have an inlet, you may need to adapt down (or up in rare cases).

Here is how to properly connect your Shore Power Adapter:

  • You should always turn off the breaker in your boat first, and then the same for the pedestal.
  • Continue by connecting the cord and making sure it locks.
  • Once the cord is locked and the inlet side is secured, go ahead and turn on the breaker at the pedestal.
  • Continue by turning on the breaker at your boat and you are done!

  1. The SmartPlug is a revolutionary shore power system designed to replace the outdated and problematic twist-type design in use today. It’s intuitive to use and provides greater protection against loose connections and corrosion – the leading causes of shore power failure and fires.
